Re: Something I've never done before
Yeah, I'm actually studying at UQ Gatton to be a vet, and I think it's only fair for me to at least let her try. She's been showing signs for 12 months, even out of season and it's driven me to the point of actually giving in and letting her try to produce. Have you had any mating with any of your p...

Re: Something I've never done before
Thanks for the info. I've bred hand raised birds with aviary birds before, I'm actually doing it right now. But I've never tried two hand raised birds together. Hopefully they produce for me, but if not, it's not a big deal. Better to do it with ringnecks than other birds anyway, seeing as the pair ...

Something I've never done before
I've bred a number of birds, including Indian ringnecks for a long time, but never have I ever bred a bird that was a hand raised pet. Has anyone here ever done it? One of my handraised 3-3.5 year old creamino indian ringneck hens has been essentially begging for me to let her breed. I've had birdy ...

Best breeding age for ringnecks?
Just wondering what people's opinions are on Indian ringnecks best breeding years, and how long they can breed for. I've bred from 3 years - 6 years and not much further. What's the oldest pairings people have that consistently breed well? A general consensus on the best years to breed birds (e.g. 4...

Creamino
I have a creamino ringneck, it's hand raised and really the most lovely ringneck I've ever owned. It's ultra affectionate, follows me round like a dog and loves scratches. It'll be a 3 year old within the next few months. I'm wondering whether it's possible to visually tell the gender of the creamin...

Help needed from aussie breeders!
Have just had a very nice turquiso-ino/creamino (whatever you want to call it) come into my possession in a deal where a I bought a dude's cage and bird playground and he threw in the ringneck for free (I paid $50 for the lot  ). It is a great bird, good colours, it was handraised and is ex...

Re: Breeding season for the Top End?
I have never bred ringnecks in Darwin, although my parents and one of my bestfriends have. Both can get them to successfully raise a clutch at any time during the year, but they often give the birds extended breaks through the hotter months. Seasons don't have that much variation in Darwin (other th...

Re: Breeding season for the Top End?
In the Territory birds can and will breed all year round. Temperature is never too low, sunlight hours are always acceptable and if you offer them adequate food and water everyday, they will breed all year. Katherine and further south might see less/no action in the winter months as the temperature ...

Not sure what my birds are up to
Hey guys, I've kept Indian ringnecks as pets for a number of years now, but I've never bred them before. A few months ago, I decided that I was going to try and breed a pair, as I got a large aviary that needed to be filled. In the last two days, I've seen the female in the nestbox for periods of up...
