Zephyr is a fatty!
Ok, so I just got some accurate scales, to weigh my new baby Green Cheek Conure (to make sure he has a healthy weight gain, as I am handrearing) and I though it couldn't hurt to weigh Zephyr my 12 month old Blue IRN.... Well to my shock, Zephyrs weight has fluctuated between 130g and 150g in the las...

A friend for my IRN.
Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while! I've got a nine month old male IRN (named Zephyr, he's blue out of a violet father and blue mother) and I've been thinking of getting a second bird, to be 'friends' with him. I know there are no guarantees they'll get along, but for one I would like a seco...

Re: A few concerns
It's going really well thanks! The first couple of feeds weren't so easy, but he was also eating seeds and veg/fruit, but after that he worked out that I wasn't trying to hurt him, and he was happy to be fed. He is doing well and will eat about 5-8ml a feed at the moment, three times a day, he is ha...

Re: Hi from NSW Australia
You birds are beautiful! Yes he is flying quite well as he has come from the aviary and got alot of practice, he's a bit wobbly on his landing on the ground, but can land well on the curtain rods, bookshelves and anything else he can perch on! He's started to work out that if he steps up he doesn't ...

Re: Hi from NSW Australia
We have decided on the name Zephyr for our baby boy. He is doing very well, eating lots, and really enjoying sitting on my shoulder and arm for some treats. His favorites so far are sunflower seeds and apple, although he quite likes lettuce, sweet potato, peas, and corn. And he has learnt to crack o...

Re: Hi from NSW Australia
Yep thanks. I've got it sorted out now. He is actually much more confident and friendly then I expected. He is the first parrot ive owned and I am already shocked at his intelligence! I got him out to feed him and had to towel him at first, but as soon as he realized I was giving him yummy food he c...

Re: Hi from NSW Australia
I picked up my new baby today! He is so beautiful. But A little nervous and scared. He is quite happy in his new house and is exploring his cage and touching his thousand things, just getting to know his surrounds. He has only been out of the nest for a week and a half, And the breeder has suggested...

Re: A few concerns
Hi thanks for your help. I have just spoken to the breeder, and I will be picking him up on Friday. The breeder has suggested hand feeding him for a while after I get him home in order to tame him. What do you think? What would I feed him, and how? The breeder said he is currently eating seeds and f...

A few concerns
Hi all, I am due to pick up my baby Ringneck (just fledging) in a few days. He has been parent raised in an aviary, and I'm not 100% sure how scared/ wild he is going to be. If any one can give me some advice and pointers on what to do when I get him home I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Bobbijo

Hi from NSW Australia
Hi everyone, my name is Bobbijo and I live in country NSW. I am not the owner of a Indian Ringneck yet, but I am picking mine up mid next week. I stumbled across this forum whilst researching IRN's before deciding whether it would be the bird for me. I've found some great info, and I think this foru...
