Why isn't my birdie moulting? ...and other questions
I adopted my 2 year old IRN from a family who did a shoddy and aggressive wing trim. All of her flight feathers were hacked off about eight months ago. I've been waiting for them to fall out and grow back but they won't! Two of her tail feathers have fallen out, but that's all. Is there anything I s...

Am I spending enough time with my bird?
I'm wondering if I'm spending enough time with Tupelo. Let me give you a run-down of our routine... 9:00 a.m. Tupelo comes out of her sleep house, gets head scratches, kisses and greetings for a minute or two then goes into her play house which is FILLED with forging toys, foot toys, perches, fresh ...

Re: Male Vs Female Behavior?
I have a two year old Female, and she loves to cuddle and be petted. She also loves to use me as a human jungle gym- climbing and hopping around on my head, shoulders and legs. She is very cage territorial but I believe this was caused by bad treatment in her former home. She has mood swings and is ...

Re: information about an online breeder
Thanks so much! After all that, I'm downright excited to get in touch with her! Also, if you could forward me some links to any helpful websites about incorporating a second bird into a home that would be great. I want a male this time, but don't want the birds to overly bond with each other or breed.

Re: Fearful? Traumatized? New Pet, I Need Help.
It sounds like you're doing great! As everyone else said, slow and steady. Take a moment to be thankful that he allows you to be inthe same room without screaming, and continue to be thankfull for ech small success during the process. It seems as though he wants to be friends with you, but is still ...

Re: Does your ringneck like to cuddle?
Our two year old female IRN was an adoption. She came from a less than ideal home and had a lot of trauma and trust issues that we had to work through. Three months later, and she asks to be petted, ticked and snuggles regularly. Give it time

I've had my 2 yr old famale IRN for about three months, and am madly in love with her. She was a rescue who came from a less than ideal situation and is now flourishing. That said, we are buying a house this spring/summer and I would like to get another IRN. However-- I want to do my research! Can a...

I'm thinking of purchasing a baby IRN from thebeak (dot) net this spring IF we're moved into our new home by then. I'm wondering if anyone has ever purchased one of their birds, or if any breeders on this forum have a professional opinion of them. If so, were you happy with the bird you received? Ar...

Female Breeding Behavior? Please help identify...
I have a 2 1/2 year old female IRN which I adopted this past November. Recently, she has been demonstrating some strange new behaviors which I have been told were due to hormones. -She has formed an extremely close bond with my boyfriend. She has always been slightly more comfortable around him (her...

Re: How late is too late?
I adopted Tupelo, my 18 month old female about a month ago. Since moving in with us, she has learned two new phrases. She also loves to invent new phrases such as "peekaboo cracker" and "Whatcha bird?" BUT it took a LOT of repetition and postitive reinforcement.

What is your bird's favorite kind of music?
Tomorrow I'm welcoming an 18 month old female IRN into my home  I scampered out today and bought a radio for her! I thought it would be nice for her to have some soothing classical music to listen to while I'm at work. I've also heard it encourages talking and helps them to develop a sweet ...

Greetings from Tennessee!
I'm so excited to be here! I can't tell you how helpful this forum was when doing research on IRNs. I was beginning to feel disheartened that I couldn't find the right breed for me, then I stumbled upon Ringnecks. That was six months ago and tomorrow I'm welcoming an 18 month old (probably female) H...
