Re: keeping 2 hand tame IRN's

I'm curious about this as well-- but a little bit different... I have an IRN and a budgie. They are in cages right next to each other, but I'm afraid to introduce them to each other because the IRN is so much bigger than the budgie, and the budgie has an attitude to boot! They are both young, the bu...

Re: Bird not playful

OH! I forgot to say this: we did get her a fruit ninja toy that she plays with sometimes outside of her cage-- she does enjoy that on occasion.

Bird not playful

Hey everyone! We just got our sweet girl on Christmas-- she is the sweetest bird I've ever seen! She comes right to us, cuddles up and coos, lets us pet her and scratch her neck, and tries to preen us all the time. She is not very loud, and just has a very sweet and mild personality. The only thing ...

Bluffing

Hello everyone! Glad to say that Layla the bird made her debut and is settling in quite nicely! She is so sweet and allows all of us to cuddle, feed, and pet her. I was wondering, however, if you think she could be regressing to her bluffing stage since she has had a big move from the pet shop? She ...

Re: How late is too late?

Thanks everyone! That gives me some assurance that she might talk then, if she ends up being a "talker"... now... I do believe that she is not a talker, simply because she is just very quiet when I go visit her. I've never heard her so much as peep. The rest of the birds in the store talk ...

How late is too late?

Hello! Gearing up to get our first IRN baby for Christmas. Just wondering, how late is too late to teach an IRN to talk? She is 11 months old, so she will be almost a year old when we get her. She turns 1 on January 16. She is VERY quiet, and I don't think I've EVER heard her so much as peep. It doe...

Re: Red fingernail polish

Thank you! I feel like I want to go crazy because I do have common sense, but I don't want to mess up! With our budgie, Aussie, I have found that he is very moody, and so I tend to just leave him alone if he's in one of his moods, or I will mess with him just to let him know that he's not the boss o...

Re: Red fingernail polish

Hi everyone! I'm back with more questions -- Just wondering how I should treat our new baby when we get her home. I've read a few places that you should leave them in their cage for a few days to let them get used to their surroundings. However, it seems to me (NOT a bird expert) that we should allo...

Red fingernail polish

Hello! I'm fairly new to the board, but have read and read it until my eyes hurt! I thought I remembered reading somewhere that some IRN's were afraid of red fingernails-- and I experienced this today with "my" IRN. We are making payments on her, so she's not technically ours yet, but we w...
