My IRN comes from a family who decided to let her be a free roaming house bird. She wasn't with them 2 days when she somehow, still don't know how, managed to tear all the skin off her left leg, with a big hole in the back of same leg. It was also broken. The lady freaked out and passed her on to me...

Guess I'm lucky. It is very humid where I live most of the year round. It only gets cold for about a month and a half. You need sweaters 'til about nine in the morning and the rest of the day you're in your shirt sleeves. About a week of that time you need a coat in the early morning hours but that'...

Welcome! This is a wonderful site full of warm, caring and very helpful people. Your IRN is the most brilliant I've ever seen. He must be real special because we share the same birthday! :)
You could name him Surya. It means the sun in Sanskrit. Take care, Rachael

Thank you Melika, Mikaela. You are lifesavers! This is exactly the stuff I wanted to know. She is now eating, drinking, chirping and exploring my office. It is wonderful to be able to share my bird worries and get help in response. Having animals here is an even bigger responsability then it is in th...

Help!

I know this is a forum for IRN's but I'm wondering if anyone here can help me with budgies. Another friend of mine has budgies. I took two of them in for a few days to treat them for parrot mange (mycosis of the beak or scaly-face) and overgrown beaks. When I looked at the vent of one of them (their...

Well Sudevi is pickier then I thought. I was giving her a mix of grain in one bowl and her fruit and veges in another. She wouldn't touch the fruit and veges bowl and would only pick out the paddy from the grain. Today I tried her only on millet leaving out the paddy and she loved it. After a couple...

Thank you so much for your advice George. Another problem I forgot to mention is that I live in the middle of nowhere in India and they've never heard of such a thing as pellets here. Got any more ideas? On the up side, my IRN, Sudevi, nibbled at a slice of apple today! Yeah! Only a tiny bit but she...

Picky Eater!

Hi, my name is Rachael. I have a beautiful female IRN who will only eat unhusked rice (paddy). I have tried everything I can think of but I can't tempt her to try anything else. I've searched the web but have found nothing to help me 'til now. I'm praying like mad someone here can help me find a way...
