New Addition
Well, we have adopted another IRN. The owner had a baby about 4 weeks before I had my baby. He was almost 2 months premature. He was life-lighted to a hospital in SLC with RSV not to long ago and diagnosed with asthma. So, she had to give up her bird. Max is about 3 months older than my two. She cam...

I housed both my ringnecks together. They were in the same clutch and were never seperated We ended up with one of each sex and they got along great for the most part up until about a year ago. (They're 3-1/2 now.) Kozmo decided Loki stressed her out too much, so we had to separate them. They get al...

Get him used to your hands! While he's still in his cage feed him some sort of treat. Next, start teaching him to "step-up" with treats! Never give in to him while your trying to teach or you'll continue to have difficulty with him. I have NEVER had a problem getting either of my IRN's in their cage...

2. When I try to pet him, he trys to bite me, I dont pull away but how do i make him stop or how do I make him like me? One thing you need to realize is that not all birds like to be pet. Some may like it, but don't realize it, and some just can't stand it. It's really no different than humans when...

Moults can happen at any time. It all depends on heat, moisture, and the particular bird. Mine moult 3-4 times a year (although it's hard to tell when Kozmo is anymore cause we always have chewed on feathers all over the place). Some said that 1-2 times is all you see, but it really just depends on ...

I trim my birds claws. They fight me the whole time, but have gotten better to where it's better now that we don't towel them. They learned that trying to bite didn't get them out of it any faster. Wings on the other hand...I let them stay flighted for my own reasoning, but I would let a vet do it i...

The screaming does usually come along with age, so does the attitude and so forth. But, it does depend on the bird also. That was Loki that was screaming in the background. He really doesn't like the camera very much. One of these days I'll get a good video of Loki talking again. Or, yeah, I'll have...

The picture of Kozmo in my signature is about 9 months old. She unfortunately is a feather chewer. I'll have to take some pictures and post them. I'm hoping to help her grow out of it, but it's hard. She's got anxiety problems unfortunately. She's still full of an absolutely neat personality though,...

For the shoulder issue...well you've gotten good advice, and I have a couple things to add. It is harder to train a flighted bird, so keep that in mind. That is definitelty an IRN Female. I would try to get a cage big enough for her to move around, spread her wings and yet still be able to fit some toys in there. You can usually tell by the coloring around the neck of an IRN whether it's male or female. You can see in my signature I have one of each...

My only comment is this: What are you guys turning this board into? Attacking other members now who voice their opinion? Everyone has opinions, let them voice them and not attack them, and let the people who are asking for advice take it, process it, and do with it as they will. We are all adults, a...

Nope, they weren't already trained. We did it all ourselves starting with them at 3 months (we visited them a few times before than also). They have both turned into very vocal birds too. I have 2 perfectly tame birds that are in the same cage together. They can't stand to be away from each other long, and they have also bonded to us. Kozmo LOVES her daddy, and Loki is soo my bird. Loki LOVES Eggo Waffles. He makes such a mess with them. Kozmo will do anything to get a drink out of my glass. Unless it's water of course. Newest Vids of Kozmo and Loki
So, I taped more of Kozmo, cause I was finally able to catch her a mood where she did a little for me. Not much, but this is pretty much all she does for us, she's not much of a talker. Of course, Loki more than makes up for her. Sorry I'm in the videos too, but neither of my guys are around when I ...

Well, I have an air-purifier that sits right next to my bird's cage. Has been for about 2 years now and it hasn't hurt them at all. Keeps the dusty smell down in our house when we use it.
