Glad someone has replied to this thread as I was wondering how they interact. I think I will get a puppy (labrador) about late July time. I have separate rooms to leave them in when I go out to work so they would be supervised when in the same room. Thought I could train the puppy to stay away from ...

Dog and bird ... good mixture???

Hi everyone, I know everyone will give me some sound advice on this forum. Ok so I've had little Sol for over 5 months now (he is 7 months old) and is starting to settle in nicely. He still has a hate for hands and flys away if they are put near him but I working on that. He lets me get close to him...

Same problem

Hi, I'm having the same thought as you at the minute. We bought little Sol about 3 months ago now from a pet shop and there was another ringneck in there as well that I'm considering going back to get but not sure if I should or not. Sol isn't exactly that well trained yet, he has a real hate of han...

My little Sol does that too. I read in a book that it might be because the air is a bit stale so when he does it I tend to open a window or waft a door a few times just to get a bit of fresh air back inside. He tends to stop after doing this. Hope this helps.

Can I just ask a quick question please. I have put a branch on the outside of Sol's cage for some time now which he loves to come out and sit on also I put a bowl full of fresh fruit and corn etc in it. The past few days he has started to sit inside the food bowl...is there a reason for this? Or is ...

I have the patience for Sol, I don't mind if he carries on the way he is at the minute forever as he is good as gold really and I love him to bits. It would just be a big added bonus if I could eventually get him to like hands as it would make things a bit easier. At the minute he will only take mil...

Hi thanks for your advice. At the minute it doesn't seem like he will ever like hands but it's early days yet so I'll just have to be patient. I thought it might have been some bad experience he might have had in the pet shop too that makes him weary of hands. It's great to know that yours is now st...

Hi everyone, OK I'll just be patient then and keep my fingers crossed that in time he will take to my hands a bit better. Nice to know it takes a while and it isn't just me doing something wrong. He's an absolute joy to be near anyway. Thought as he only seems to take millet out of the cage from me ...

He hates hands!!!

Ok I've had little Sol for just over a month now and love him to bits. He is very independent really. I let him out every day and he will come out on his branch I've attached to the cage and then have a fly round and when it gets dark he will take himself back inside and up to his perch to sleep. He...

Hi, I've had my ringneck now for just over a month and I used to have the exact same problem! He used to be a complete nightmare getting him back in his cage at night. We used to have to hold the cage up and hope he would fly into it...which was very tiring as it is a big cage. After a while he let ...

2 month old Yellow Ringneck - Need help taming please!

It's my first time posting on this site ... and my first time owning a bird. We bought a yellow ringneck from a pet shop, with an aviary in it, 2 weeks ago. Understandably he has been really nervous since we bought him home. I have spent a good few hours every day sat next to the cage talking to him...
