Brothers

I've not been posting on this forum for a while, but now i'm back:) I have a new IRN coming to live with me and Seppo (Seppo is now 1,5 year old). The new bird is actually Seppo's little brother from same parents! I went to visit my new baby (named Ilkka) yesterday, and I was amazed that the 3-month...

Just now, Seppo let me scratch his chin a little bit!! And it happened 3 times! Ok, he was taking food from my hand, but before he just shied away if I even thought about touching him:)

I remember the feeling, it was only a month ago when Seppo first flew to me. I had almost given up hope, but then it happened! It was wonderful. And after that he's taming more and more. And true, these guys are food whores Seppo will practically bounce on his head to get a taste of anything, from p...

He's going through the 'baby' moult...they wont loose the bigger feathers (IE flight or tail) until the 1 year mark...atleast that's how Prinny was Dani Seppo's first moult has begun (6 month old), but he has already lost his two longest tail feathers and two shorter. Is that normal? He looks so ak...

We are doing very well with Seppo. He comes to my hand daily to get treats (really sits on my hand but only just for awhile). He sits on the monitor as I use my computer and nibbles my hair. Talk about nice haircut! He want's to taste everything I eat, and if he decides it's good and I won't give hi...

Master Seppo

Seppo has learned how to behave outside his cage! He has learned that you can't fly through windows etc.!

AND I made him this fabulous climbing tree :P

Funny how the cultures differ! In Finland it's almost illegal (well at least very frowned upon) to clip your pet bird's wings!:) No one really does that here. We see that it's birds' birth right to be able to fly, and it's our responsibility to see that the environment is safe for them.

Training from scratch

Okay, I've had Seppo for a week now. Yesterday was a big day when he for the first time took a peanut from my hand! Today he's increasingly less shy about my hand. How do you think I should continue? Seppo is not hand-reared.

Hello from Kotka, Finland!

Yesterday i brought home my very first bird, Seppo the Indian Ring-neck. Seppo is very calm and quiet (well, not the first morning, mind). He's very adorable, but he shies away from my hand. Let's see what's it gonna be:)
