Do babies constantly go yip yip yip yip yip?

Post by crazyparrot »

I had sold a baby to a lady who said she was a very experienced hand feeder (but with smaller birds). It's been just over a week now and she just called me and asked if it is supposed to be constantly going "yip yip yip yip yip". I heard it on the line and it would go yip several times, take a 3-5 second break and do it again.
Is this normal? The baby is just about 5 weeks now. Please respond so I can get back to her, she says the noise is unbearable.

IRN's do yip more than other species I have bred, quite alot actually... but I can guess the reason its particularly noisey...

Its alone. Solo bubs being hand reared are far more noisey than in groups, a small fluffy toy to snuggle up to is a great idea... something dull in colour without large eyes (can scare young).

However first off make sure this person is actually feeding it the right amount of food and not constantly underdoing it... alother main cause.
