Hello everyone. Just joined. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
Yesturday i went and picked up my 11 week old blue irn.
He is absolutely gorgeous.
I want him to be totally comfortable and happy in his new home. But he is absolutely petrified of me and anyone that goes near the cage.
When i try to get him out he gets very frightened, his breathing gets faster and runs to the bottom corner of the cage. He hasnt eaten or drank anything. I understand that its very early and very stressful time for him. But he wont come away from the corner of the floor of the cage. And when i do get him out he will climb up to my neck and hide his face in my neck or climb somewhere in my clothes where he feels hidden. Ive but a small blanket in the corner of the cage and he hides away in there when someone passes.
Is this normal behaviour for a hand reared irn? He seems petrified of humans....
Any advise on what i can do to make him feel more comfortable? And if i should worry about him not eating or drinking? i feel so bad leaving him alone frightened in his cage.
Thanks
New hand reared baby is so scared.
