Hi all
I have two ringnecks and have successfully implemented the target (touch) training within the large cage. Upon them touching the end of the chopstick with their beak or having a little bite, they hear a clicker sound and they are ready for their fav treats (sunflower seed, peanut and pumkin seeds) only 1 at a time though, and whichever ringneck touches the chopstick gets the treat, either from my the tip of my fingers or on the palm of my hand.
My question is: what do I do next? do I move on to the step up stage within the cage? or target (touch) the chopstick outside the cage for some time? I don't want to move too quick as I want them to 110% recognise that touching the target stick will earn them the treat.
Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Next training tip....
Wow, sounds like you are off to a wonderful start!
I would start targeting outside the cage. This way they can become more confident with your hands before you coax them step onto your hand inside the cage! You are doing a great job!!!
Congrats on your efforts so far!
Best wishes,
