Is the OCCASIONAL piece of dry dog food ok for RN's?

My two IRN's (Lucy, lutino F, 3 yrs., Indigo, blue F, 3 yrs.) like to munch on the occasional piece of dry dog food (3-4 times a week, Purina Little Bites Indoor Complete). I know this food isn't designed for birds (obviously!) but they do love it - my question is, is it OKAY to let them have it? Main diet is fresh fruit & veggies, pellets, mixed seed, sunflower seed, and dried fruit (mango, apricot) 3-4 times a week.

Looking forward to replies!

As far as I have heard it doesn't hurt them...

dog food is higher in fat than cat food. Do you own a cat/dog. Then again so are saflower...so, i'm sure it's fine.

Do I own a dog? - Yes, I breed and show miniature longhair Dachshunds and have been doing so for 37 years, 60+ AKC show champions. I wrote the color chapter in Dee Hutchinson's book on Dachshunds published by Howell Book House in the late 1990s, have had many articles published in Dachshund magazines, and am judging the longhair puppy sweepstakes at our national specialty show this year in Sacramento (March 2007).

Wow--that is great. I have a friend who raises Newfs. It is such a lot of work to keep your lines healthy. Would love to see some pictures of the little guys (and gals)

Thanks for sharing. That's a pretty pair of birds.

And the dogs are beautiful too.

Do the birds bark yet?

No, both birds are girls so they don't say anything. Probably just as well or they'd have long since learned to yell (at the dogs outside) WILL YOU GUYS SHUT UP???!!!
