Nila finally got out some understandable words.

He said What cha doin, pretty bird and good boy and a very garbbled I love you. It's funny how he started with what cha doin and went to saying other things too.

I love it.

I feel like a real mother who's baby just talked

Hello, I am wondering how old is Nila, my Bobby is 2 years old and has not uttered a word yet, is there still hope??
She is very good at ringing like the telephone though, drives us nuts.
I do wish she would talk. :)
I have had to hide all the shiny things in my kitchen, she chuckles away to herself as if in a trance, so I have taken everything away in the hope she will forget about her imaginary friend and start some real talking.

Nila's hatch date is March 15, 2006 so that makes him about 7 months old. I know that I am with Nila about 60-80% of every day. And I talk to him a lot of that time while I'm working on the computer or cleaning or cooking. I also know that birds love drama and so I speak in a very annimated higher pitched voice. If he imitated a whistle or just answered when I called with a chirp I would go into the room and clap my hands and say good boy good boy etc. He's been practicing for a while but everthing was mumbled. I really think the babysitter video I got stimulated him and he started talking after watching that 3-4 times over a week and a half. Each time he sees he now he gets very verbal. The video doesn't have any birds talking human words just bird chirps and whistles but somehow it really encouraged him to get verbal. Go figure. Since he's the only bird I have I think it helped him to want to communicate. :?

Anyway hope that helps. I know you love your little bird. They have the neatest personalities. But it is fun when they talk.
