Difference between lavender and lilac

Hi, what is the different colour between lavender and lilac. Is it that the tail of a lavender is purple and Lilac is blue? I know lavender is violet cinnamon and lilac is cobalt cinnamon but I can't tell the difference in some pictures. Thank you

Lilac & lavender on the colour spectrum belonging to the purple shades*- In IRN I have seen Dark Violet Blue ('cobalt violet') Cinnamon & Dark Blue ('cobalt') Cinnamon being advertised as 'lilac'.

which is why you'll see some variation or what looks like none at all.

*Lilac being closer to purple/pink, and lavender being closer to blue in the colour spectrum
