Hey guys, I don't currently have a ring neck companion yet but with your help hopefully I will soon! I'm just looking for any breeders in Sydney or even Australia depending on how much freight would cost... So if anyone on this forum could help me I'm looking for a violet blue baby male and also wondering how much it would cost :).

Thanks a bunch!

If anyone happens to come across any breeders in Brisbane/QLD, my friend is after a baby violet/blue ring neck too, no preference in gender.

I know they are a rare find, so she is willing to wait it out. But let me know if anyone comes across them :)

Fingers crossed for you to danielgo__ :)

Hi guys,
You may have to wait a little while as many birds are still on eggs or have just hatched. However if you monitor ads on gumtree, or petlink , you will find what you're looking for. Violets are quite common now and very affordable. You should have to much trouble, there are lots of breeders in your areas. The price vary depending on if you want the bird hand raised or if you're willing to do it yourself.

Cheers

I don't know if it's the same in nsw, but here in qld it isn't legal to sell unweaned parrots.
Legalities aside, if you are a novice with birds I think it is well worth paying a little more to have the breeder raise a pet. Handrearing birds is pretty specialised, it would be best to learn with the help of an experienced birdkeeper.
It also seems beneficial for the birds social development to be raised with other birds.

In the year that I have had an irn I have read so many novice hand rearing horror stories on here, other forums and in parrot magazines.

Regards,
Claire
