Ive read on here that people bring in local branches for there Alex's to play with and chew. Is there a safe list of trees?? I live in North Queensland if that helps

Not sure, but my ringneck has had Gum perches since day 1 with no problems.

My understanding is that Australian Natives are ok. The best perches come from the Australian Bottlebrush because the birds can have fun peeling off the outer layer of bark but the inside remains hard.
