I love gray IRNs, is that the term you would use to describe the color of your IRNs?

Yes, they are Grey Ringnecks. This photo was taken a few months ago during the off season, they love pinecones. Once he chewed all the sharp bits of it, he started mating with it

Do you need to rinse them or anything before you give?

I don't rinse them, luckily for me, i have a mate who has a few pinecone trees and when they drop off, he bags them up and gives them to me. I wouldn't trust getting from the side of the road, they would have all sorts of toxic car fumes all over them. If you want to be on the safeside, you can give them a rinse.

I order pine cones from a website called birdstheword.com. They don't cost much and are HUGE! I love this site, they have a lot of fun toys and I don't think the cost is that much. And my babies love the pine cones I got from there.

So, it isnt safe to just pick one up out of the yard, correct? Or could it be rinsed with really hot water and dried?

If it is from your own yard or a friends yard and you know it hasn't been sprayed with anything, you don't need to rinse it. But i suppose you could give it a quick soak in hot water if you are worried.

Nothing can happen to my Baby. Boo passing was bad enough. Er, now Im pondering that which I probably should.
As close as Baby and I are, I really need to remember she wont live forever. But, dogs usually have 10 yrs. I have 30 with her.
Its people like Chamon and I that worries me. Maybe we are too close to our babies. Maybe I should stop thinking bad thoughts and enjoy the time she and I have.
Sorry *swats away the black clouds* Im still not over Boo. I run down through the house every morning when my eyes pop open to make sure Baby is ok... sick part is, then I go to check on the kids.

After thoroughly rinsing the pinecones with hot water you should out them in the oven for an hour or so on a low setting. This will make sure that any bacteria that may have been on the ground from wild birds and other animals is baked away. It will also open up all the "scales" on the pinecone.
