I was wondering, are both these birds the same mutation?

Yes they are. It's not easy to determine if the first bird is a light phase lacewing which is called a yellow head cinnamon. Perhaps if both birds were photographed together it may help to confirm this.

How do you get the darker one, then?
The flights seem a little too green to be a pallid. :T
