Nesting box question

Post by bigred »

Can I leave the nesting box in year round or do I need to remove when breeding season is over?

Breeders do both so its up to you. You just need to give it a good clean and put fresh nesting matierial in before the start of the breeding season.

Hi,

If your birds are all together in a big aviary it is better to remove the nest boxes since females display a territorial behaviour centered by the nest all year around, not only during the breeding period. This behaviour has also been observed in the wild.
If you want to keep the nest boxes, be sure you will put at least as many nests as females you have, and put them as separated as possible from one each other.

If your birds are separated in pairs you can do as you prefere.
