violet: violetblue: violetgreen

Post by Louie »

I am wondering: when talking genetics, is violetblue the same as violet (visually)? Does anyone have a link to or a pic of a violetgreen?
I currently own: 1 male, green Indian Ringneck, 1 Labrador Retriever, 1 Mini Lop rabbit and 4 backyard chickens (silkies)

Hi there visually to look at a violet and it is violet (no other colour) then geneticly its violet blue.

If its a combo of green and violet then gentically its green violet.

Hope that helps.

Below is the link you requested what you do is go to the site and then find the colour you are looking for and click on it down the bottom is green violet.

Hi Dog-Glenn,

You should use the word combination instead of combo when talking about different mutations present in the same bird. The word combo makes reference to a crossing-over appearing between genes present in the same cromosome as:
1. In autosomes: Dark and blue
2. In sexual cromosomes:
Pallid and cinnamon
Ino and cinnamon
Pallid and opaline
Ino and opaline
Cinnamon and opaline

Best regards
