What wiil I get?

Post by adc330 »

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great holiday season and New Year !!! I have a turqouise male and a lutino female, and am assuming that all my babies are going to be green. Males split to turqouise and ino and females split to turqouise.... Is that right? What would I have to breed the offspring to in order to get a creamino? I am not sure if the parents are split to anything other than what they are visually.

I also have a cobalt blue male that might be split to ino with a silver hen (do not know if she is split to anything either). What are the possibilities with this pair, and would you shuffle these two pairs so that the turqouise is with the silver and the blue with the lutino?

I also have a greygreen male on stand-by, where would he come into play to achieve other mutaions from my hens or offsprings?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hi
Ok for your first pair you will get these young

PARENTS

Cock := Turquoise(sf) Blue
Hen := Green Ino

PROGENY
PERCENTAGE DESCRIPTION
25.000 % Green / Turquoise Hen
25.000 % Green / Turquoise Ino Cock
25.000 % Green / Blue Hen
25.000 % Green / Blue Ino Cock

Now same birds but if hen is split to blue which is very common.

PARENTS

Cock := Turquoise(sf) Blue

Hen := Green Ino / Blue

PROGENY

PERCENTAGE DESCRIPTION
12.500 % Turquoise(sf) Blue Hen
12.500 % Turquoise(sf) Blue / Ino Cock
12.500 % Green / Turquoise Hen
12.500 % Green / Turquoise Ino Cock
12.500 % Blue Hen
12.500 % Blue / Ino Cock
12.500 % Green / Blue Hen
12.500 % Green / Blue Ino Cock

Now for your other cobalt pair i personally would be getting a blue or pastelblue hen or violet instead of the silver hen but from what you have this is your outcome.If not split to ino the cock you remove any ino in the birds but same colours.If there is ino then you will get visual white birds and unless you kept them and bred you will never know what real colours they could be.

Cock := Cobalt / Ino

Hen := Blue Cinnamon Grey(sf)

PROGENY

PERCENTAGE DESCRIPTION
6.250 % Blue Hen
6.250 % Blue Grey(sf) Hen
6.250 % Blue / Cinnamon Cock
6.250 % Blue Grey(sf) / Cinnamon Cock
6.250 % Blue Ino Hen
6.250 % Blue Ino Grey(sf) Hen
6.250 % Blue / Cinnamon Ino Type 2 Cock
6.250 % Blue Grey(sf) / Cinnamon Ino Type 2 Cock
6.250 % Cobalt Hen
6.250 % Cobalt Grey(sf) Hen
6.250 % Cobalt / Cinnamon Cock
6.250 % Cobalt Grey(sf) / Cinnamon Cock
6.250 % Cobalt Ino Hen
6.250 % Cobalt Ino Grey(sf) Hen
6.250 % Cobalt / Cinnamon Ino Type 2 Cock
6.250 % Cobalt Grey(sf) / Cinnamon Ino Type 2 Cock

Hi Coastal-Birds,

When you make the calculations for the last pair you get some cocks split cinnamon ino type 2. I assume that it means that the cinnamon and the ino genes are in different cromosomes: the ino cromosome coming from the father and the cinnamon cromosome from the mother. Could you make the calculations considering that the cock was also split cinnamon? I was wandering if the software is ready to account cinnamon ino type 2 and for crossing-over producing cinnamon ino type 1 cocks at the same time.

Regards

Hi Recio
Bit confused can you tell me exactly what birds you want me to work out.
I can do any ino,cinnamon type 1 and 2 cocks and any other splits.
Flast out at the moment so will post the reply later today

Hi Todd;

Thank you for calculating the offspring.

Wich software are you using for calculations?
I think that it is not the genetic calculator since the way of displaying the results is not the same. Do you know how to input data for type 1 or 2 of combos in the genetic calculator? With your software : Is it possible to input data for specific combinations of ino-pallid, cin and opaline? If taking in account 3 different genes in the same cromosome and one of them (ino) with 2 alleles(ino, pallid) it must be a headhache the possible outcome combinations depending on the crossing over rate of each pair of mutations (cin-ino: 3%, ino-opaline 30%, cin-opaline 33%) and in which of the 2 sexual cromosomes of the male each mutation is located (4 possible combinations).

Waiting impatiently for your answer .

Hi Recio
No i dont use the online ringneck calculator.
Mainly because it is not very easy to use and i cant work it out how to do multiply splits like ot say ino/cinnamon/whwt/opaline.
The program i use took me a while to find and even here in Australia people dont know about it.
Send me a PM and we will work something out.
Cheers
