Wow taking a closer look at the pics online, the camera seems to pick up alot of green I dont really notice with the eye, I guess because of the flash and also that it catches a still of him with all his feathers open and out, showing more underneath colour. I am going to email the breeders and find out more about his background. I don't think he is pure blue ? do you ?

Cheers!

g'day, thats a very nice looking bird and i wont tell her about the but shot
your bird looks so much like one of mine almost the same shot aswell Image
but i think if any thing falcon has a bit of gray in her, where your bird does seem to have a very slight shade of green but it could just be the lighting or the flash.
but very good photos anyway, they are very clear[ she seems to like the water/img]

Awesome shots!

I have got to get a better camera.

I love shots of them being 'them'. They are so photogentic.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

My camera always over exposes and washes my birds out. Making them look almost colorless, unless I use no flash at all. Then you have to be real still, which is hard.

Well Kai is almost 13 months old (on the 11th) and that was his second time playing in the water.

It took me many sessions (on different days) of just being patient and splashing my hand around in the bowl before he got up the curiosity and courage to come over and take a look.

It seemed that the first flick of water that got him, as I splashed, made him realise (inbuilt instinct) what the water was. Now he loves it. :D

Blue IRNs aren't blue in how we're brought up to think of blue. They have seemingly green undertones. That's just how they are.

Now Violet Blues and Cobalts are more of what we think of as blue.

Kai is such a pretty boy, lol. And does a great job keeping those feathers clean and in tip top shape for the ladies. :)

Kai is stunning! Hehe it still cracks me up Kai is food in Maori

My partner always threatens Datsun  "if you piss me off bird il eat you" he loves her really and she adores him but its their thing, she usually answers with "what, what you doin doin???" soo cute!

Proof Daddy loves Datsun:Image

And Datsun loves her Dad:Image

It looks like Kai only has 1 wing clipped, is that right? You should get both done evenly to prevent one wing getting much musclier and making your boy lop-sided

I would get them done again, it means that when he flaps one wing gets more exercis e than the other because one has more resistance and it builds up more muscle, in bad cases the bird is grotesquely lop sided...not too cool.

Thanks! That girl has her Dad wrapped around her little red beak -TWICE! She gets away with murder with him, he loves her soooooooo much. She loves me too and just as much but acts completely differently with me. For me she is well behaved and cute with a smidge of cheeky with James she is a ratbag coz he lets her get away with it! So funny how she has worked us out so well and manipulates us to suit her. I guarantee if we both have a coke she will want to sit with Dad coz he will let her have some!!!!

Seems its time for a trip to the vet for Kai.

http://forums.petlovers.com/articles/ab ... pping.html

noted from this clipping article link above:-

One Wing Clip: This is one of the worst possible clips for a bird. Trimming the feathers on one wing will prevent the bird from flying. However, it will also throw off the bird’s balance, resulting in a more injury-prone pet. Birds should be able to glide gently to the ground with a proper clip; a one-wing clip may impair landing ability and result in beak, breastbone, and head injuries. This clip is not recommended. If your avian vet recommends it, consider finding a new vet.

BOTH wings are to be clipped.

BOTH, always. I wouldnt even take my bird to anyone that does one wing clips. While you are there, do yourself a favor and get the talon nails done too. Your forearms will thank you for it.

There's a lost add in the paper today, an african grey with one wing clipped.

One other lost bird (quaker) and a found one (lovebird).

95% of the time I read the paper there's at least one bird that flew away for was found.

Julies, they can still fly with only one wing clipped, though dangerously. With both wings clipped They can't fly. The primary feathers (the long ones) provide the lift, and the secondary feathers (shorter ones) help the glide. So only the primaries need be removed, reducing lift.

But frightened birds even clipped severely have been known to fly up to 15 feet skyward in panic. They just plop back down though. :?
