egg number 3

yay my hen has laid egg number 3,i checked this morning and there was still only 2 but just checked then and there was number 3.how many can they lay and when do i starting counting down the days till they hatch,(if there fertile).this is there first year breeding and they are only 2 years old.

The most eggs I have had from my hen is 5 but I have heard of one breeder saying his hen lays an average of 7 eggs per clutch.

The hen generally begins incubating the eggs at around the third egg. But it all depends on how many she will have.

Don't panic if the eggs don't hatch dead on 21 days, as it can vary slightly either side.

You can candle the eggs to see if they are fertile with a bright torch or a egg candler.

Congrats and fingers crossed that you have a successful hatch. :)
