do they ALWAYS breed?

Post by Lags »

Hi,
i currently have a female lutino and she is beautiful. I am thinking of getting a friend for her, and would love to get a male.

My question is if a do get a male and put them in the same cage, will they breed? I do not really want them to breed, so i wont be providing them any nesting boxes or anything, but will that enough to stop them?

Well if the male is young he may
not show interest. Taking away
the nest box is a great idea.

lols..just get the young boy if you
want too. Go for it, what could go
wrong? Nothing but love between
the two birds. :D :) :D

Breeding

Post by Coastal-Birds »

Hi
Well here in Australia many breeders are getting young from birds at 12months old.So a young cock bird could breed.
But if you take the nest box out then problem fixed.
I have seen ringnecks lay on the floor when no nest box is supplied but it is a rare thing to happen as they prefer a box or log which is nice and dark..
But if she did lay on the floor i guess you could just pull her eggs and hope she dosnt go for a 2nd clutch the same way.
Hope this helps.

Yea, she could lay on the floor, but if so
just pull them out.

also, younger male reduce chances due to dominance required. but, females r territorial especially while pairing (in breeding season) so need to keep an eye until they understand n accept each other.
