Ignore it hun, it sucks but it works, they get bored if theres no reaction, ensure Cosmo has plenty to chew and destroy. More handling works too. I find if Dats is getting nibbly I let him play with some toys to himself for a bit (he attacks the crap outa them) and he seems to get it out of his system.

Yep they get like that during breeding season especially, just be the boss and let it pass.

its really getting me down as i dont know why cosmo has turned on me in the last few days. he has taken a real fascination with my feet if i leave the room he gets upset and chases me but as soon as he sees my hands he will do what ever he can to take chunks out of them i really hope this is just a passing phase as i want my sweet cosmo back

Hey Sonic,

Just wanted to give you some feedback on your situation. Like you, I kind of took it personal about my ringneck’s attitude change. My male ringneck, Archimedes, did a 360 on me this year. Usually he becomes irritated during breeding season and I know when to back off. This year he did something completely unexpected, not only did he become aggressive towards me; he wanted nothing to do with me. If I came in the room, he would hiss, pin his eyes, and raise the feathers.

I was shocked because this behavior continued for about a good few months. He really did not want anything to do with me. He only wanted my twin. I found it very fascinating because my twin does not interact with my birds at all. Every time my twin would walk near Archimedes, he would bow, pin his eyes, and go crazy for my brother. To make matters worse, my brother does not live with me so I had to deal with Archimedes daily.

It’s now a few months later and my bird is coming around. Though he is not the same as he used to be, I am giving him his space and waiting for him to return to my sweet bird. I can now pet him and handle him; however, I kind of lost a bit of confidence because he bit me pretty good. Just hang in there! Sonic will come around.

Best Wishes,
