biting his toes
OK, I am reading alot here and there, and what did I see about this? Don't remember! Chipper has his favorite spot on the perch, sort of where he can watch the world go by. He doesn't play much, but often he slides down the side of the cage and bites at his toe nails. Otherwise, he seems rather calm and all together. Not all that noisy yet, either. My budgies are not tame, either, which breaks my heart. I had a budgie named Simon who talked and really loved me, until the dog got him one night, many years ago. So I yearn for another bird like that one. I know Chipper will take awhile to settle in. Just wish I could see a little spark of personality in him to give us some hope for a fun future with him. Thank you for your responses. I feel at home here. Donna
toe biting is a sign of being nervous, birds have their own personalities, it took my first Irn about two months to warm up and make noises and play, every day she does something new now and loves to talk to herself in her own language. I recently took part in a rescue with a IRN and with in hours we was playing with his toys, and walking around all over. The personality will come, my advice is use a shower perch which you can get at any pet store for 4.99 us and shower with him daily. IRNs love water since they are from an area with a monsoon season where it rains for days on end and the rain is quite warm due to the latitude. Showers melow them out, talk to it, sing in the shower, make him part of the experience everyday( with no extra time taken from your day i might add, i am a busy college student) and the personality will soon follow

Nail Bitting
HEllo This is Nate.
Im the owner or a very good girl Charlies. She is a blue IRN and very friendly and active. She too bites her nails although she does this very precise to clean and groom them. She as well does this to me. She love to clean under my nails and takes great care when shes in the mood. I adopted Chralies from my brother who could not take care of her. I have only had her for 2 weeks and we have bonded well. She enjoys my company as do I her's. She can get very needed wanting to play with everthing that I have in my hand. Anyway thats my story with Charlies.
