Pecking/biting toes

Post by doremon »

Hi! I have an IRN and a cockatiel who loves the company of each other. However, both have the habit of pecking or even biting on each other's toes whenever the 'mood' came. I am not so concerned with my cockatiel doing it to the IRN but it certainly more damaging the other way round. It happened once that my IRN bit my cockatiel's toe so hard that it bled. Does anyone know why they behave in this way and whether there is a way to stop this behaviour?

Cheers!

The only thing I would do is supervise them.

A ringneck beak is extremely strong compared to a cockatiel beak. Never let them be alone and always keep an eye out for any aggression. I wish I could tell you more but that’s really the answer.

Hope this helps!
