Another one bites the dust....
Fats really loves chewing on popsicle sticks. He chewed through one a month ago so I bought a couple more... seems like good fun. I put one in the cage yesterday morning before heading to work. About 12 paddle type sticks in groups of three separated by vine balls.
When I go home from work, the popsicle sticks were all broken off, only vine balls left.
I put the other popsicle stick toy in but it's hanging in such a way that he has to climb the rope to chew at them. We'll see how long it lasts! I MIGHT go broke on popsicle sticks if I keep buying the ready made toys.

Good Birdie! You can totally pick them up at JoAnn's and the big W. I bet you knew that, but what you maybe didn't know is that they have wooden alphabet blocks in the rodent section at PetCo. They seem to be made with birdie crack. I strongly suggest you check them out! Rocky also enjoyed taking apart the grass ball they sell. I guess it's about the size of a coconut or so. I put a skewer through it and hung it up. He turned it into a bowl to hold his foot toys.

Now, I'm a crafty person... but it illudes me how I would put a hole in the popsicle sticks to hang them. Will they just split if I drill them?

I drill holes in popsicle sticks. Mostly they don't break - just get a small drill bit. I'm totally not crafty either, so if I can do it, you can!

You can also be sneaky and drill several times, increasing the size as you go.

You can also try using an awl since the Popsicle stick is rather thin.

Bamboo is a great idea...just make sure it doesn't splinter and there are no sharp pieces left in the cage

Here's a toy I just now gave to Rocky. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... atid=17163
I put the recycling out tonight, so I wanted to crack open the package and send the box away. I had the lights on anyway (bad mama) so naturally I gave him his new toy right away. It was a big win, so I hung it in the middle of his ceiling, to make it hard to get to.
All of a sudden, he's walking on the ceiling upside-down! A new skill for him, that I never saw before! I don't know why I like that so much, maybe because most of the household can't do that trick -it's just him and the BUDGIES!
Anyway, see how Fats likes a ball like that.

Joey showed interest in our wooden spoon. Since ours was used, I bought her one of her own. Lets just say it is no longer with us. (RIP Spoon).
Joey also loves Popsicle sticks. They never last long in my house. I also occasionally give Joey a wooden dowel. Sam uses these to weave. Joey loves to destroy them.

I know it's not an IRN story...but I used to give my cockatoo a wooden spoon to play with until I was walking past his t perch one day and he smacked me with it lol. He never chewed it though. He always looked like he was conducting an orchestra.

What a cute picture
I bought a whole mess of popsicle sticks at the craft store. I also got a toy that is all popsicle sticks of different colors threaded onto a piece of leather. Fats is LOVING it.
He likes to play with loose paddle type sticks. he is too cute just holding it in his beak before he shreds it
