Re: Recessive Lutino H&T
Are you just as upset with the fact that you almost can't breed two green birds together these days with a blue or turquoise popping up? Or is it only ino that is carrying this bad reputation? Just curious.

AThe mother has parblue feathers on its side wings while its flights and tail feathers are solid blue. The chick has parblue feathers on its back while its flights and tail feathers are pale green. That might be related to the age difference. Do all the parblue chicks look the same, though? That wo...

Apparently that has been going on since the birds arrived in Oz. Long before then, Willy. That's why we have the same thing in SA. The crossing must have already started in Europe and the birds were exported all over. However, it hasn't reached problematic levels here (yet). It is actually rather d...

I don't quite share the sentiment that the bird is a mauve-like phenotype. The overall wash on the underside is a bit light, and the tail region is too light and one can see the violet quite clearly in some of the photos. However, this bird is very close to reaching "mauve-status" when con...

Hi Zane, Ben's got it right. The Australian breeders that have dubbed their Australian cobalts as 'deep' has all reported that it is a lighter shade of blue compared to the European cobalt. I would guess the same. And then I'd have the lutino sexed. Chances are good it will be a hen. If it is a cock, you are sitting with a pair where both parents are split for NSLino (recessive ino). Not too likely, but also not impossible.willowisp71 wrote:green/blue ino and the hen green/blue
