The nuts that are in the bags of seed or the ones that are sold in pet stores generally are "not for human consumption". If something isn't for human consumption, I'm not sure I'd want to feed them to my fids. I don't feed them anything that I would not at least try once :) So MissK is cor...

Just as an observational "oh by the way", I would personally only use the peanuts (unsalted and not from a bag of bird seed but ones that are sold for human consumption) as treats. Only an opinion though.

Sounds like male posturing to me. Females will generally arch their necks and flatten out their bodies, almost like they are laying down, and raise their tail slightly. The males usually do the standing up tall and oscillating their heads around. Do you know for certain that he/she is three years old?

I don't think this is just a young bird thing. Oscar does this. It's been a year and almost a half since we've rescued him and Luna. Sunni spends a lot of her time on the floor of the cages. She likes to "forage" and they all like to be on the living room floor foraging and playing with foot toys. I think it varies, not only from bird to bird and day to day, but hourly.

After a few days of allowing him to come to you on his terms, I would begin actually holding the apple in my hand and reaching out. It is important to not look at him directly, as they are prey birds and looking at them full on could be considered predatory to them.

Try giving them fresh veggies. They may not eat them the first day. Or the second or third or tenth day. But keep trying a variety. I personally would not give them too many more sunflower seeds. Certainly not to make it the main staple of their diet. My thinking is that if they get too many at such...

Some people will argue for clipping while others will argue against clipping. It is a personal choice. When I got Oscar and Luna, they were clipped. I let them grow in and have left Oscar's. Luna, however, since she has become aggressive to the others, gets a light clipping. That way the others have...

Yes it is possible. Oscar, Luna and Oliver are all rescues, so they pretty much don't let us touch them freely. They tolerate us being near them lol. But in the past year, Oscar and Luna have come a LONG way and Oliver has too in the six months we've had him.
