Re: Did I calculate this properly?
You can't get any green offspring from two blues series birds- the mother was probably a GreyGreen and not a Grey. she would also have to of been split to Blue to get Blue babies in the clutch. So, Green split Blue x GreyGreen split Blue will give you GreyGreen, Green, Grey & Blue chicks Thanks...

Thank you!Chocobo wrote:no, you'll get visual Blue or Grey chicks.
The breeder had mentioned that with his last hatch [same parents] he ended up with some muted green birds; I think muted is the right word, it's the dusty green color not the bright green.

Na... hi, from your description it would appear that that the bird isnt looking foward to feeding. you should get indicators at least in the morning at first feed when the crop is empty. are you new at this? is your experience relative? is the feed the recommended type? not too thick or thin in con...

Re: Welcome Home Apollo!
I know the feeling I look forward to seeing him! How are things going? Is he settling in well? Feeding well? How are you coping? It's actually going really well. I just added a heating pad under his tub, my heat lamp isn't keeping the temp high enough and he was burning too much energy keeping warm...

Also, crop pokes out after feeding, teardrop shaped not hard, still a little squishy so I know there's food in there. I'm just concerned that I can't keep him focused long enough to get enough feed in there.

How long until I start seeing feeding response from my baby?
3-4 weeks old, straight out of the nest. Eating, but not nearly as much as I'd like him to. I'm not getting any kind of feed response from him, I understand that this is a learned behavior [head bobbing etc] but he's not showing any interest in the food, he'd rather put his head under the washcloth ...

I know that you can't post an image (using Ellie's explanation as shown by Melika) until you've been a member of the site for 5 days and made 10 posts. It just prevents spammers coming in, signing up and spamming us all with their website or porn links or something like that. Hope this helps!! Sara...

Welcome Home Apollo! [New Pictures!!!]
Apollo and I got home about an hour ago, he's already had his first feeding. Eating well and he seems content. I'm thinking he's closer to 3 weeks old than 4, but age is just a number, right? Any idea what color he's going to be? Here he is during his first meal in his new home. Ugh. I'd really like...

Why can't I attach pictures?
If I use an outside link, it says I look too spammy and when I try to attach the file it says the forum quota has been reached.
Am I doing it wrong or something?

I made my Apollo a baby blanket
I'm hoping it will be a source of comfort for him in his tub.
I'd love to post a picture but when I use an outside link it tells me I look too "spammy" and when I attach the file it says the board attachment quota has been reached.

Re: I Think A Breeder Just Tried To Scare Me? Please help.
When we vetted prospective puppy purchasers we Always told them all the cons of owning a dog, and of our specific breed, Then IF they still wanted one and asked sensible questions, and only when we were satisfied they would be suitable owners, would we accept a deposit and sign a contract. Telling ...

Thanks! I'm going to pick him up in 4 hours! I've got no idea what I'm going to do to kill time?!?! Lol. I've picked up my formula, made my well-parrot appointment with our avian vet and I've got my heat lamp warming up so I can monitor the temperature. I've bought my transition food as well, though...

Re: Freaking out a little bit.
Hi. If he is not feeding them, then their parents are feeding them or else he has a helper. I would think it is normal to be nervous about it. If you have done your research and you have a realistic expectation, then you know your handfeeding actions will make or break this little baby's life. That...

Re: I Think A Breeder Just Tried To Scare Me? Please help.
I was just really concerned that she didn't have anything nice to say about the breed at all, in general. I found a breeder in my area, close enough that I could ride a bicycle there :) And he has 4/5 week old babies right now, so I'm going tomorrow to look and maybe bring one home with me. He, had ...

Freaking out a little bit.
Well, my search for a baby is over. She said they're 4 weeks old and the sooner I take them the better, since I want to hand feed....now I'm freaking out a little because I wasn't expecting our search to end this quickly and I sure wasn't expecting someone to tell me to come get the bird as soon as ...

I Think A Breeder Just Tried To Scare Me? Please help.
I just got off of the phone with a SC breeder; I'm broadening my search. I found a breeder about 4 hours from me, so I'm still looking to see if anyone is closer to where I live. This woman went on and on about how mean IRNs are and how if you handfeed them yourself they'll turn on you once they're ...
