Re: Ringnecks with other Breeds
I am so jealous!!! My IRN hates other birds and animals. He/she is not afraid of but aggressive with them. My poor eclectus wanted to be friends but is now terrified because the IRN will chase him off of the perch or sneak up and bite him :-( Give them a little more time with the cage between them a...

What does this mean?
I have seen lots of pictures of this but I am not sure what this behavior means or if it should be encouraged. First Skye began to put his (or her) head IN my mouth and makes clucking noises. Now for the first 5 minutes each time I hold him he bows down, puts his head up, pins his eyes, and just clu...

Re: GOODBYE BLUFFING!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!
Awww. That is so cute. I used to let Sky on my shoulder but he started attacking my ears. So he has lost his shoulder privileges. He LOVES baths too. I put him on the top of the shower door on a towel. Every time he is up there he wants to come in, snuggle under my chin, and get soaked. LOL. I hope ...

Just ask the owners if you could buy her from them? Prices vary with them. To get a better idea as to how much they are selling for, look at the prices ofthe ones on Craigslist and Ebay classifieds

Re: i really need help
It will take time to build trust with him. At least he is comfortable to leave his cage to sit on top AND eat out of your hand :-) If you find a specific treat that he likes (or even his food) you can slowly work with him. Place your hand on top of the cage between him and the treat so he will have ...

GOODBYE BLUFFING!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!
We have had a WONDERFUL breakthough!!! I am sooo happy. Since 4 weeks old Sky was my sweet and loving baby. I was heartbroken when at around 4 months he developed a slight additude problem...which only seemed to get worse. He began to scream, bite, battle with us, launch himself from any place to ge...

Re: Is he unhappy???
If it so frustrating because I keep questining if I did anything to cause it. He has been a little bratty since 4 month old but still wanted to be with us. He would try to intimidate all males that held him. When a male was holding him he would pin his eyes, fluff his head, and start these loud whis...

I sure hope so. He will call to me or our eclectus if he is not included in whatever is going on. At what age are they usually done with bluffing?

Sky is 7 months old now. I have had him since he was 4 weeks and I hand raised him. He definately has mood swings like crazy. He used to follow me all around the house and was not scared of ANYTHING. He bosses around the dogs, cat, and our eclectus. He is out of his cage all day every day. I work fr...

His eyes definitely pin but his wings stay normal. Would breeding season effect him at such a young age? He is 6 months.

Why is he acting like this?
Sky is 6 months old now. We do not know if he is a male for sure, but he has more characteristics from what I have learned (square head, vibrant cheeks, heart shaped wings, and some behaviors)...we still don't know though. He (or she) has recently began a strange behavior with other (human) males. W...

Introducing other birds
Skye is 5 months old now. About a month ago our conure Oscar passed away. Skye never loved him but he would sit outside with him, sing with him, and when you took one away they would call to eachother. Oscar was too busy for him. Oscar wanted to lean against him, preen him, and would sometimes play ...

Okay. I am glad I did not run out and buy one then. It was tempting because they are so close to us. I either want a full violet or a cleartail
Thank you
If you hear back from them would you mind letting me know if they do have any cleartails?

We THINK Sky is a male. We studied "him" for an hour comparing his body to the other birds when he has hardly any feathers. He has very square shaped head and vibrant cheeks... but who knows. Boy or girl we still love him :-) His bluffing is not nearly as bad as I expected either after res...

Re: What to do next...
Thank you Ellie :D I am just so torn between another IRN, a lesser sulfer crested cockatoo (worried about noise level but I am in love with them), a cockatiel (not as high maintenance as the other birds and I still get the cute crest on the head), or an eclectus parrot. I found some BEAUTIFUL violet...

I read all kinds of information to prepare myself for the dreaded bluffing stage. I have heard that the bluffing stage starts young but then someone also told me that they reach it around a year old. Our Sky is only 11 weeks old. I work from home so he is never in his cage and therefore not very happy when he has to sit in it during the day. Hi There, You can definately start to give him seeds, fruits, and vegetables to explore. Sky's favorite are apples. He took to those right away. He also loves grapes and strawberries. One of the first things that I fed him while he was on formula (he is finally down to hardly one feeding a day...YAY...

Sky is about 10 weeks old now and has started to get nippy. Our little angel can be a little devil...but I still love him to pieces. His worst times are in the morning and early afternoons. Towards evening he turns back into my cuddle bug. When he is moody and lunges at me, I say "no bite"...

It is definately the baby noise, just much louder. When he talks to me he makes the baby noise more sweetly as he always did when he wanted to be fed. I think he is just playing with his voice. He has already learned how to whistle. I love listening to him make different squeaks and whistles while h...

Our Sky is about 9 weeks old now. He was 4 weeks old when we brought him home. Be careful with a cage because he can lose heat and his feet can get hurt on the wires. I saw one who had a torn tendon from the wire on a cage because it didn't know how to properly walk on it. We kept a light on Sky to ...
