Re: few Questions
Ok let me see if I can answer some of your questions... Generally speaking it is safest to feed babies from the left side of their beak. I will admit I have fed older birds, with good feeding response, from alternating side to keep the beak in good shape. I am currently feeding what were day one bab...

Re: exited :)
That sounds about right. I estimated that my first egg was laid 2/12 and it hatched 3/11. I think the average incubation time is about 24 days. From what I understand this can depend on when the hen starts sitting though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I found three eggs in the nest box on 3/17 an...

Re: How long should I give her?
2 of the 4 eggs have hatched so far and I regret to say that both had empty crops 6-8 hours after hatching (I didn't have the heart to wait 12 hours :( ). So far so good I have been feeding every 2 hours around the clock, both babies are draining well, and seem to be doing ok. I will continue to kee...

How long should I give her?
My pair's eggs are hatching! I was told by the previous owner of the hen (now with a new mate) that she does not feed babies and that they will be day one feeds. I would like to give her a chance to feed the babies. How long should I give her before I pull the babies if she does not appear to be fee...

Re: exited :)
I'll keep fingers crossed for you and please do the same for me. I have a pair on 4 eggs that should be hatching any day now (if they're good, too afraid to candle) and I was told by he previous breed that the hen doesn't do well feeding her babies so they may be day one babies. Yikes!

Re: Screaming & Stubborn headed :)
I would agree that covering the cage for approx 12 hours should give both you and the bird the right amount of sleep. The screaming is simply a natural repose, flock calls at dusk and dawn, that you should not try to eliminate rather, modify (hence covering the cage and creating your own dawn when y...

Re: Benefits of Grey
Ha, I was looking back and found that the lady I bought the creamino from gave me the color of it's parents... a turq male and blue female, therefore it has to be a female creamino! (unless she gave me the wrong parent info of course)

Re: Benefits of Grey
Yes, it's online. Here's the link to the home page (also calcs for other birds) http://www.gencalc.com/. On the left hand side in the yellow box find Psittacula Parrots click on that and you should find the cal for ringnecks. Have fun, it's a little tricky at first but once you get used to it, it's ...

Not to worry, if the creamino does turn out to be a male I will still put it to good use!

Re: Benefits of Grey
That's funny I have a creamino which was sold to me as a young male but is acting a lot like a female these days. I am going to get it 're'sexed this week. I may have lucked out if it is a female b/c I have a male turq paired with a lacewing hen(a pairing which I'm not too excited about) so I may pu...

Re: Benefits of Grey
Glenn, thanks for the reply. I guess my concern is that the grey color will not sell well (although my male is quite striking) in the pet trade. Also that it is such a dominant color. I do use the genetics calculator frequently I get caught up messing with all the different combos, great tool. I too...

Benefits of Grey
What are the benefits of having a grey (male) as part of a breeding program? Any recommendations as to the best pairing with a grey male? Currently I have him with an albino hen which I believe will produce grey and blue birds (someone correct me if I'm wrong). They are on eggs now so I guess we wil...

Did you find homes for your breeders? how much are you asking for them and are you willing to ship them? I'm in Dallas.
