clipped wings

Bullet's wings are clipped. I go the pet store where I bought him/her. They do a nice job and are familiar with them since that is where I got him/her.

Bullet's growing up

Bullet is actually looking like a ringneck now, length wise. He is starting to get a personality. Bullet is getting a little better with the biting. He still has his moments. He makes a little growling sound when he/she is on you and likes where he's at, but will step up without a bite. Yippee. I ho...

Goldie's Lories

I wasn't sure if I put this in the right place, but thought I would give it a shot anyway. My sister is looking to adopt/buy a Goldie's Lorikeet and NO ONE in Virginia has them, or at least not for sale. I was wondering if any of you great IRN owners know where she can get one in the States or can l...

I have the same problem with the shoulder thing, but Bullet likes sitting on your shoulder. The only problem is, Bullet is going through the biting stage. I sense that he/she wants the companionship and feels safe and secure, but like you Julie, I don't want an ear or chin piercing unexpectedly. I'v...

Yeah Bluepepe09. I hope this works. I was going to check in to see how you were doing. I took Bullet for his weight check today and apparently is right on target. I was talking to the "bird lady" at the pet store. She has lots of experience with birds and reassured me that things will impr...

Wow, Bluepepe09, I think you're having a worse time than me. Bullet too was so sweet when we first brought him home, and I had been visiting with him every 2-3 days when he was first brought in to the pet store we bought him at. I was so hoping that would help with bonding. I know he/she thinks of m...

Bullet

Thanks SkyBaby. Today is a little better. Bullet has tried only a couple of times today (knock on wood). Both times were quick little bites. I did my best not to react. He/she wants to be with me or on me, but it makes me a little nervous when trying to sit on my shoulder. When he is on my shoulder,...

Bullet is getting testy

I'm sure like most of us, the first time our "babies" decide to take a chunk out of us, it breaks our hearts. How could they bite the hand that feeds them. Well, I got to experience it, and yes, I was heartbroken. As some of you know, we just brought Bullet home this past Tuesday, and thin...

book

Julie thanks for the info. I tried to order from the web site you gave, but couldn't order outside of Australia. (I'm in the U.S.) BUT, fortunately, I found the book at another web site and was able to order. It's going to take almost a month to get here, :( but at least I could order it. :) Wendy

books

I've tried that U.S. Marine and can't really find anything. They have books on just about every other kind of bird in the world. I guess I'll be checking in more with you guys, the experts, when I need to know something special about ringnecks. That's ok. You all have the actual hands on experience ...

thanks Julie for the info. Obviously I need something strong enough for him to not be able to chew through quickly.

P.S. Bullet started jabbering a little bit today. He sounds so cute.

millet

I've noticed that Bullet pretty only eats millet when he is on his little play gym. Right now I only have millet in the bottom of the cage and Bullet doesn't care for being on the bottom. When I transfer him to his bigger cage, which will be in the next few days, I will try to figure out a way to ha...

books about indian ring necks

Does anyone know of a good reference book on indian ringnecks or parrot behavior that is in "lay" terms. I would like to learn a little more on parrot behavior (specifically with indian ringnecks in mind). i'm still trying to get pictures loaded of Bullet. I caught him taking a bath today ...

how Bullet got the name

I meant to tell you all how Bullet got his name. One day when I was visiting him at the pet store I was racking my brain trying to figure out a name, then it hit me. His band says rAK 47, and the first thing that came to mind was Bullet. I know, I know. An AK47 doesn't shoot bullets, but "machi...

Baby Bullet finally got to come home

Hi, I'm Wendy, I just brought my new baby ringneck home yesterday. It's name is Bullet. It is a friendly little thing. Bullet has quickly learned "step up." I am hand-feeding 3-4 times a day. This morning when I fed him/her, I put a piece of broccoli and apple in my hand. I was very surpri...

we saw AJ too

AJ is definitely a cool bird. We sat at laughed at him. I was wondering though, are you a bird trainer. You have taught him so many things. It really is amazing to watch him. We are new too. We have just adopted a 4-week-old that is not home with us yet, but we can't wait so that we can maybe teach ...

Brand new owner of a baby ringneck

Hi, I'm Wendy and I just put a deposit on a baby ringneck (4 weeks old). I currently have 3 cockatiels in my flock that are 9 weeks old. I found out about Indian Ringnecks and it sounded like a bird my family and I could enjoy having in our family. I was hoping someone could give me some suggstions ...
