Did you do the clipping yourself? I wanted to clip Kiwi but am a bit concerned with doing it myself. I don't think she'll like that too much and I don't want to make a mess with scissors and all. But I think taking her to the vet n the other side of town just for a clip might be more stress than jus...

Bar Spacing in cages

Hello, I ended up choosing a different cage and am about to order it but I am having a serious doubt regarding bar spacing. m The cage named Italia seems a bit small to me, whereas the one named Suiza is the one we wanted to get Kiwi. The problem is the bar spacing is 3/4 on the Suiza model. Will th...

Is this a good cage for my IRN?

Hey all, Kiwi has been staying in her cage for a month now and we have decided to move her to the living room so that she can be where the action is most of the time. He cage is 69x39x66 cm and we decided to get her a nicer one which is 64x64x165 cm. Is it big enough to justify changing the cage? An...

After some very serious consideration I have decided to clip Kiwi's wings. The main reason is that she flies a lot inside the house and gains a lot of speed in such short distance that everytime she gets close to a window I think she will die... She did hit the window once and that was it. Also, she...

I cannot take a shower without Kiwi on my shoulder and getting completely soaked. She would stand on the shower curtain perch for a minute or two and I'll spray her a bit with my hand. Then she inevitably jumps in, gets completely wet, and hurries off to the towel and start drying her head...

Acrylic Painting

Hello all, Kiwi is doing great after two weeks at home. She is now out of the cage several hours a day, and she goes to bed when the sun sets and wakes up with the sunrise. She is getting plenty of sleep and she is sweeter by the day. I think people who say females are difficult must be crazy! Anywa...

At night we close the door and window in her room and just open it the next morning. I have always been a late night person but I guess I'll need to change my schedule now. I sometimes come home a bit late at night and she might not be able to go to sleep until 10:30 - 11. That wouldn't be a problem...

Hi, we went to pick Kiwi up today. The plan was to just go there and check out how they were raising and keeping them and then wait for next year's babies. But we brought home a little ringneck, she was born in May and she's been great at home, she seems to like the big cage a lot and we had her out...

Thanks for your answers.

Any pointers regarding my previous question of female/male differences. Is it true that female are more aggressive/difficult than males?

i know each bird has their own personality, but in general?

thanks!

Thanks for your messages. It's helping a lot in deciding that a ringneck is probably an appropriate bird for us. The only concern is that I tend to travel a bit, although for short trips I'll take him with us, and if we're gone for a week or so I'll bring him back to the shelter where they said they...

Getting a IRN. Please advise...

Hello all, it's good to join the forum. My girlfriend and I have decided to get a parrot. We have been supporting all these animal shelters and whatnot, and decided we should finally get to keep one with us and we were thinking about a Quaker parrot. There is a shelter close to Barcelona (we live in...
