Age of IRNs
Hi I was told that my IRN was 4 months old when I got him but his ring is already in and very dark.
We have had him for a while and he should be about a year old.
A friend told me he looks closer to 3 years old, when do there rings come in and how do you tell how old they are?

Surferdon No you didn't offend me at all, I appreciate any advice and yes I did know that you need a large cage for these birds but what size is correct I don't know. But a budgie cage was just wrong thats why I took him home I've only had Indy for 2 months but it is like I have had him forever. Tasha

Cage Time
Is it alright for ringnecks to spend all day out of their cages. My Indy is only in his cage when I have to go out or if it is bed time (he puts himself in the cage about 9pm) I just want to make sure that I'm looking after him alright.

Hi Jen In answer to your question no Indy was not tame in any way. It broke my heart when I brought him home thinking that I could hold him and pat him to find out that skin can bleed really fast with an IRN attached to it. For the first two months I had to wear gloves to even change his water dish ...

Jen It will be okay honest, I have only just started to be able to put my hand in to get Indy out of his cage and I have had him for almost 5 months it just takes time and I know you don't want to hear that as I didn't when others told me. I had many days where I was going to give him away I just co...

From hissing all the time, to standing on my hand and now a little patting the last month has made a huge difference, thank you for all your help and adv...

My Irn is called indy he makes clicking noises and hisses sometimes he will chatter on and on for ages it is so cute. I wonder if because there are two budgies in the cage beside him that this could be part of the reason he isn't bonding so well what do you think? Sometimes I think that he thinks he...
