Re: Small breakthrough

Problem still persists. Any advice at all would be great. Just trying to get close to her results in a bite hard enough to draw blood. I don't really know what to do with this bird at this point to prevent the biting.

Re: Small breakthrough

Well, she has now started to get more aggressive and most of the time now refuses to step up and tries to bite just for getting too close to the cage. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. This started a couple days after our visit to the vet, but that was a couple weeks ago.

Small breakthrough

Today my new 2yo female let me touch her beak. Would like to have touched her head, but she wasn't comfortable with that yet. But baby steps I suppose... I pretty much just rewarded her with a treat every time she let me get closer without trying to take off my finger.

Re: New bird molting

I don't really understand it, but from the day we brought her home she would step up for me and run right up my arm or jump to my shoulder. I better not try to scratch her though or she l...

Plucking or Normal Molting?

I got this female IRN over the weekend and was told that she was molting, but I guess the more I think about the more paranoid I get that it may be something different. I'm pretty new to keeping birds and I'm trying to research as much as I can. I just wanted to see what others thought. http://i629....

New bird molting

So I just purchased a 2yo (was told female) IRN a couple days ago. She was already molting when I picked her up, and I had some behavioral questions about her. I've read that they can get more irritable when molting is occurring, but I'm just not sure if that's the cause, or just the fact that she's...

Hello

As of yesterday I am now part of the IRN club. Found this site while doing some research and decided to stop in and say hi. I'm pretty new to keeping birds, but excited to learn more about them.
