Hi everyone....if someone told me a few days ago that they had paid $350 for a bird ,i would have told them they had rocks in there head.
That was until i entered the local pet shop to retrieve my Niece who was making her way to the puppies.
With my back turned to the bird section i suddenly felt something on my shoulder, it was an 9 week old blue IRN.....$600 dollars later i walked out with Charlie,a cage,a variety of toys and a stand (what a beautiful bird).
Charlie loves being handled and cant wait for his cage to be open so he can get out, he has an amazing personality and loves to be hand feed.
However one thing has me puzzled....Charlie has a light blue ring around his neck, and everything i have read tells me that the ring should not appear till he is much older....is this correct?

I got my Nila, a blue IRN, in June when he was about 12 weeks old and he too had a lighter blue ring. If the bird is male the ring will be black and white when he matures but the females I believe will retain that lighter same color ring.

You are in for the time of your life if Charlie is already that friendly and ready to play with you. Get a good book, like Guide to a Well Behaved Parrot to give yourself some guidance on how to train the bird for a lifetime of love and affection.

Hi Ray,
Sounds like Charlie stole your heart without you even putting up a fight. My blue has a lighter ring also, no idea how old s/he is. Welcome!

Hello and welcome! I got Lou in a similar fashion. I saw him at the petstore and i went back to get him because he just latched on to me. You're definately going to enjoy your time with him as they're just amazing little creatures....who'll do anything for a scrap of food!

*pics please* Laughing
