Hi chickies! Lil worried at the moment. 2 days ago I brought my new baby home from the breeder. I was told he/she is weaned. But lil Yoda hasnt eaten yet! I tried hand feeding some mashed vegies and oats. Yoda took one bite and threw the rest all over me. Im not that bad of a cook am I?
He/she has some seed in the cage and water, its had a drink of water but hasnt touched any food. Is it still a lil stressed about the big move or should I keep persisting with hand feeding till it gets used to helping itself to seed and vegies? Its been 6 years since Ive handled a baby IRN.
Thanx
Lauren, Gilbert and Lil Yoda |

| Our IRN was the same way when we brought him home. I would try apples, grapes, kiwi, peanuts, sunflower seeds.... Thoses are some that my IRN just LOVES. I tried an apple, and he ate it right away. Just try a fruit and see what happens |

Give her time to adjust.
Perfectly normal. Though keep trying and have a staple (seed/pellet) around her all the time.
She'll come around, find it and one day dig in. And you'll smile. _________________ ~ Mikaela Sky

Yoda is now eating apple and brocolli. Trying to pick them up with he/she's tallons. Aww. I just love it when they are in their learning stages! |
